Julia

I'm glad you've found your way to my website. I offer psychotherapy in English in Hanau, near Frankfurt, as well as therapy sessions in French.

This is a space where you don't have to explain every part of your story before you can begin to speak about what it has done to you. My work is informed by personal experience of binational family life, alongside professional experience with migration, discrimination and racism, and questions of home, identity and belonging.

Do you sometimes feel as though you don't quite belong? Perhaps you have become used to adapting, fitting in and functioning - while quietly feeling that important parts of you remain unseen and unexpressed.

Maybe you have moved between countries, languages or cultures. Maybe you are new in Germany or maybe you have been living here forever, but still feel like an outsider. Maybe home is not simply one place. Perhaps your own experience of belonging is repeatedly questioned by others, or you feel caught between different expectations, identites and ideas of who you are supposed to be.

Our experiences are not only stored in thoughts and memories. They can also show up in the body - through muscle tension, exhaustion, restlessness, numbness or a constant sense of being on alert. In body-oriented psychotherapy we gently include these physical responses in our work. Together, we explore what your body and nervous system may be communicating, always at your pace and without pressure.

I work from a trauma-sensitive and systemic perspective. This means that I don't look at a symptom in isolation. We also consider the social context, relationships, family history and societal structures surrounding you. Inclusive, discrimination-aware language is an integral part of my work, as is the ongoing reflection on diversity, power and privilege.

You might be looking for support with:

  • Feeling caught between different cultures, languages or expectations

  • Being a Newcomer in Germany, trying to settle in

  • Questions of identity, home and belonging

  • Anxiety, exhaustion, loneliness or feeling constantly on alert

  • Binational families or relationships

  • Family conflicts, major life transitions

  • Experiences of discrimination, racism or not being recognised as who you are

  • Painful experiences from your own life or family history

You don't need to have the right words or a clear explanation for what you are experiencing.

We begin right where you are.
